Pete McMenemy is entering his third season as head coach of the West Liberty University women’s soccer program, having led the Hilltoppers to back-to-back Mountain East Conference Tournament appearances in his first two years at the helm.
McMenemy initially joined the Hilltopper program as a graduate assistant during the spring semester of the 2021-22 academic year and was officially named head coach in May 2023.
A native of Falkirk, Scotland, McMenemy is no stranger to the Mountain East Conference. He came to the United States on a soccer scholarship to Alderson Broaddus University, where he was a four-year letterman and a member of the Battlers’ 2016 G-MAC Championship team.
After graduating from Alderson Broaddus, McMenemy began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Midland University (Neb.), helping guide the Warriors to a GPAC runner-up finish and a berth in the NAIA National Tournament. He then served as an assistant men’s soccer coach at Georgetown College (Ky.) during the 2021 season before returning to Scotland, where he coached at the Pro Performance Academy in his hometown of Falkirk.
McMenemy holds a UEFA C Coaching License, earned in June 2023, and has built a strong foundation in both coaching and academic leadership. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management from Alderson Broaddus, a master’s degree in Adult Organizational Learning from Midland University, and completed his master’s in Educational Leadership from West Liberty in May 2024.
