West Liberty University Athletics

    Gavin Shiels returns for his second season as a graduate assistant with the West Liberty University women's soccer program.
    A native of Bandon, Ireland, Shiels brings an impressive playing resume to the hilltop. He was a sophomore starter on Wayland (Texas) Baptist University's 2017 NAIA national championship team before transferring to WVU Tech to complete his undergraduate studies.
    Shiels wrapped up a stellar playing career by helping lead the Golden Bears to an undefeated regular season and Top 10 national ranking along with a River State Conference title and NAIA playoff berth.
    An outstanding student who earned the 2019 River State Conference Scholar-Athlete Award, Gavin is the son of Noel and Anne Marie Shiels. He graduated from WVU Tech with a Sport Management degree and is working toward his master's degree at West Liberty.
