Currie returns for his season as a women’s soccer assistant at West Liberty after four years as an assistant coach with the men’s soccer program at NCAA Division III Bethany (W.Va.) College.
Currie played a key role in getting the once-proud Bison program back on track, helping them to a berth in the 2010 PAC title game and a return trip to the PAC Tournament in 2011.
Currie played his college soccer at NCA
A Division I Robert Morris (Pa.). He was a member of the Colonials’ Northeast Conference (NEC) playoff teams in 2003 and 2004 before hanging up his cleats to join the RMU coaching staff.
In his first season as an RMU assistant, Currie helped Robert Morris claim an NEC championship and an NCAA Tournament berth. The Colonials made it back to the NEC playoffs in 2006 and 2007 before Currie took his coaching talents to Bethany.
In addition to his collegiate coaching, Currie has considerable experience with youth club teams, coaching the Penn’s Forest U15 boys to the 2007 State Cup championship. He is currently Technical Director for a local youth soccer club and a member of the West Virginia Olympic Development Program (ODP) coaching staff. Currie holds international coaching licenses from the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) and the Scottish Football Association.
A 2008 Robert Morris graduate with a degree in Corporate Communications, Currie also holds a Masters in Teaching from Bethany.
