    Shane Rice, PGA head golf professional at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, W.Va., has the West Liberty women’s golf team on the rise as he heads into his seventh season at the helm.
    A Western Pennsylvania native who played his college golf at Coastal Carolina University, the Lady Hilltopper coach has been a familiar face at Tri-State Section PGA events for the past 17 years.
     After a decade working his way up the ladder as an assistant golf pro at four Western Pennsylvania courses, Rice was hired as PGA Director of Golf at the Bob O'Connor Golf Course in 2008.
    During his time at the Pittsburgh course, Rice received two PGA President's Council Awards and was honored with the 2014 PGA of America's Player Development Award.
    Rice was hired as head golf professional at The Club at Shadow Lakes near Aliquippa, Pa. in late 2014 and served there until coming to Oglebay in 2017.
    Before moving up to the collegiate level at WLU, Rice served as head coach at Keystone Oaks (Pa.) High School for nine seasons. He is also a volunteer youth hockey coach in the Pittsburgh area.
