West Liberty Men’s Tennis Falls to Bluefield State

Bluefield, W.Va.  — The West Liberty University men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to Bluefield State on Friday at City Park.

Bluefield State took early control of the match by sweeping all three doubles contests to secure the doubles point. At No. 1 doubles, Said Santin and Pablo Garcia defeated Pablo Zubieta and Ethan Shepard 7-5. The Big Blue followed with a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles from Alessandro Perez and Maksimilijan Lestaric over Barney Cowan and Stanley Zgurski, before Adam Greenberg and Mateo Aldaz closed out doubles play with a 6-2 victory against Chris Burns and Ignacio Giurfa at the No. 3 spot.

In singles play, Bluefield State continued its momentum to complete the sweep.

At the top position, A. Candelas defeated Pablo Zubieta 6-3, 6-1, while Said Santin earned a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Ignacio Giurfa at No. 2 singles. Alessandro Perez followed with a 6-3, 6-0 win against Ethan Shepard at the No. 3 position.

Bluefield State added two more straight-set victories at the bottom of the lineup, as Maksimilijan Lestaric topped Stanley Zgurski 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 and Pranav Sirivella defeated Chris Burns 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6.

At No. 4 singles, Pablo Garcia secured the point with a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Barney Cowan.

Bluefield State finished the match with a 7-0 team victory.
