WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — The West Liberty University women's soccer team returns home Wednesday night for an important Mountain East Conference matchup against Concord University, with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. at the West Family Athletic Complex.
The Hilltoppers enter the match at 2-8-1 overall and 2-7 in MEC play following Sunday's 3-1 setback at West Virginia State. West Liberty is 1-3 at home this season and will be looking to get back into the win column after dropping its last two matches.
West Liberty has scored seven goals through 11 matches, with freshman
Kylie Collins accounting for five of them. Collins ranks among the MEC's leading scorers with five goals and 10 points while also leading the Hilltoppers with 18 shots and 11 shots on goal.
Collins has scored West Liberty's last five goals and has accounted for more than 70 percent of the team's offensive production this season. The Hilltoppers' other goals have come from
Allie Callahan and an own goal credited to the team.
As a team, West Liberty is averaging 6.5 shots per match and has put 48.6 percent of its attempts on target. The Hilltoppers have also earned 46 corner kicks while holding opponents to an average of 15.0 shots per match.
Concord comes to West Liberty at 2-7-2 overall and 2-5-2 in MEC play. The Mountain Lions are coming off a 1-1 draw at Davis & Elkins on Sunday and are 1-4-1 on the road this season.
Concord is averaging 16.4 shots per game and 1.45 goals per contest. The Mountain Lions have generated 180 shots through 11 matches, putting 97 of those attempts on target.
Daisy Cook leads the Concord attack with five goals and 12 points in nine matches. Molly Watters has added four goals and two assists for 10 points, while Katie Garratt has three goals and six points. Watters also leads Concord with 35 shots, while Ella Rowell has attempted 36.
The Mountain Lions have scored 16 goals this season but have allowed 24, giving them a minus-8 goal differential. Concord has also been held scoreless in three of its last five matches, including a 0-0 draw against Point Park.
Goalkeeper
Kaisa Vale has 10 starts and recorded 52 saves with a 1.90 goals-against average and .732 save percentage.
Her 52 saves rank among the MEC leaders, while her 5.30 saves per game rank fourth in the conference.
The Hilltopper defense will face a Concord attack that has produced 97 shots on goal this season, making pressure in front of Vale an important factor Wednesday night.
Concord has won the last five meetings between the programs, including a 5-0 victory in Athens last season and an 8-3 win at West Liberty in 2024.
