WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — West Liberty University senior Francis Toohey has been named the Hilltopper of the Week following a standout performance at Muskie Meet #1 hosted by Muskingum University this past Saturday.
A distance runner from Martins Ferry, Ohio, Toohey played a pivotal role in the Hilltoppers' victory in the men's 4,000-meter medley relay, teaming with Zachary Workman, Michael Niggemyer, and Robert Allen to capture first place with a winning time of 10:33.40.
Toohey also delivered a record-breaking individual performance in the men's 1,000 meters, finishing fourth overall with a time of 2:35.88, which established a new West Liberty school record in the event.
A senior and graduate of Martins Ferry High School, Toohey continues to provide leadership and consistency for the Hilltoppers as the indoor season progresses.
The Hilltoppers return to action this Saturday at the Ashland Invite.
