WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — The West Liberty University men's wrestling team turned in a dominant performance Friday night, defeating Frostburg State, 29–10, in a Mountain East Conference dual.
The Hilltoppers controlled the match throughout, winning seven of the 10 bouts, including two falls and three major decisions, to secure the convincing team victory.
West Liberty set the tone early at 125 pounds, as Caiden Harbert pinned Nate Wilhelm at 6:06 to give the Hilltoppers an immediate 6–0 lead.
After Frostburg State edged a narrow decision at 133, Khyvon Grace responded at 141 with a 5–0 decision over Chase Bell, regaining momentum for the Black and Gold.
The middle weights proved decisive for West Liberty. Nico Taddy earned an 8–0 major decision at 157, Bodie Morgan followed with a 7–4 decision at 165, and Carter Winegardner delivered a 15–5 major decision at 174, pushing the Hilltoppers firmly in control of the team score.
At 184 pounds, Gabe Blissenbach survived a tight bout, pulling out a 9–8 decision to extend West Liberty's lead.
Levi Abbott capped the night in emphatic fashion at 197, recording a fall at 2:44 over Alex Hoy to add six more points and put the dual out of reach.
Frostburg State closed the match with a decision at heavyweight, but West Liberty's early bonus points proved to be the difference.
The Hilltoppers return to action Sunday at the Mount Union Purple Raider Open.
