WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's soccer team returns home on Sunday for a non-conference matchup with Salem University. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at the West Family Athletic Complex.
The Hilltoppers (0-6, 0-4 MEC) are still searching for their first win of the season after a challenging opening stretch that included four Mountain East Conference games. West Liberty has shown steady effort defensively, highlighted by goalkeeper Cianna Butera, who leads the MEC with 56 saves on the year.
Salem (1-5) enters Sunday's match coming off back-to-back losses against Fairmont State and Wheeling. The Tigers' lone victory of the season came in a 4-0 shutout over Washington Adventist on Sept. 19.
West Liberty will be looking to extend its dominance in the recent series against Salem. The Hilltoppers have won five straight meetings since 2022, outscoring the Tigers by a combined 33-1 margin, including last year's 7-0 and 9-1 victories.
