WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — Freshman goalkeeper Emil Vernhamn has been named this week's Men's Hilltopper of the Week after backstopping West Liberty to one of the biggest wins in program history — a 1-0 shutout of No. 10 Concord on Sunday at the West Family Athletic Complex.

The 6-3 keeper from Stenungsund, Sweden, was a wall in net, recording four saves to preserve the clean sheet and hand the nationally ranked Mountain Lions their second straight loss. The performance capped off a stellar opening stretch to his college career, as Vernhamn has yet to allow a goal in 184 minutes of action.

So far this season, Vernhamn has posted 10 saves with a perfect 1.000 save percentage while earning two shutouts and a 2-0 record in just three appearances. His debut came Sept. 13 at California (Pa.), where he turned away six shots in a 2-0 Hilltopper victory.

Vernhamn's poise, command of the box, and ability to rise to big moments have already made him a difference-maker for head coach Sean Regan's squad.
