West Liberty, W.Va. — West Liberty University is proud to introduce "Timeless Toppers," a new Alumni Spotlight series celebrating former Hilltopper student-athletes who continue to lead, inspire, and represent WLU in their professional and personal lives. Our first feature shines the spotlight on Lance LaFollette, a 1984 graduate, former Hilltopper football standout, and current President and CEO of Citizens National Bank in Woodsfield, Ohio.

Favorite West Liberty Memories:
Lance looks back fondly on the excitement of homecoming games, but his most treasured moment came during the 1981 upset victory over nationally ranked West Virginia State, where he was named Game MVP. The emotion of that win and the pride of representing WLU in such a major moment still stands out decades later.

Advice to Current WLU Athletes:

"Participate. Be active. Get involved. Make memories."

Lance encourages current Hilltoppers to embrace every part of the college experience—on and off the field.

Lance credits his teammate and sidekick Richie Brothers, along with the guidance and mentorship of Coach Shank, Coach Westenhaver, Coach Cortazzo, and Coach Pry, as major influences during his time at West Liberty.
