West Liberty Men’s & Women’s Tennis Prepares for Much-Anticipated Return

West Liberty, W.Va. – The West Liberty University men's and women's tennis teams are set to make their much-anticipated return to the courts, with the men opening their season Saturday and the women debuting on March 1.

Men's Tennis Schedule

The Hilltopper men's team will begin their 2025 campaign at the Wheeling Park Bubble Saturday against Washington & Jefferson at 3 p.m. They will kick off Mountain East Conference (MEC) play on March 1 against Davis & Elkins.

Their schedule includes a Spring Break trip to Hilton Head, S.C., for the Spring Tennis Fest, where they will face Chowan, Dickinson College, and Hillsdale College.

The men's teams led by head coach Ronald Hulewicz includes; Andres Ayala, Barney Cowan, Ignacio Giurfa, Chris Burns, Robert Lindsey, Aidan Lucas, Federico Murrau, and Austin Zgurski.   

Full Men's Schedule:

  • Feb. 22 – vs. Washington & Jefferson (Wheeling, W.Va.) – 3 p.m.

  • March 1 – vs. Davis & Elkins (Wheeling, W.Va.) – 1 p.m. (MEC Match)

  • March 8 – vs. Chowan (Hilton Head, S.C.) – 5 p.m. (Spring Tennis Fest)

  • March 9 – vs. Dickinson College (Hilton Head, S.C.) – 12 p.m. (Spring Tennis Fest)

  • March 11 – vs. Hillsdale College (Hilton Head, S.C.) – 5:30 p.m. (Spring Tennis Fest)

  • March 22 – vs. West Virginia State (McGuffey High School, Pa.) – 1 p.m.

  • March 28 – @ Davis & Elkins (Elkins, W.Va.) – 4 p.m. (Additional match, not conference)

  • March 29 – @ Bluefield State (Bluefield, W.Va.) – 12 p.m.

  • April 1 – @ Frostburg State (Frostburg, Md.) – 3 p.m.

  • April 4 – @ Salem (Salem, W.Va.) – 3 p.m.

  • April 5 – vs. West Virginia Wesleyan (McGuffey High School, Pa.) – 1 p.m.

  • April 10 – @ University of Charleston (Charleston, W.Va.) – 3 p.m.

  • April 22 – @ Fairmont State (Fairmont, W.Va.) – 4 p.m.

Women's Tennis Schedule

The women's tennis team will begin their season on March 1, also hosting Davis & Elkins at 1 p.m. in their MEC opener at the Wheeling Park Bubble.

Like the men's team, they will travel to Hilton Head, S.C., for Spring Tennis Fest to compete against Chowan and Dickinson College before diving into their conference schedule.

The women's team also coached by Ronald Hulewicz includes; Omolade Aderemi, Mia Camilletti, Kylee Freeman, Kaylex Gibson, Evelina Martirosyan, Gabrielle Pasco, and Danna Ramirez.
