WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — West Liberty University's Carter Winegardner has been named the Mountain East Conference Wrestler of the Week, presented by The Health Plan, following another strong stretch of performances highlighted by a championship run and a key dual-meet victory.

Competing at 174 pounds, Winegardner was instrumental in West Liberty's 30–15 win over Ohio Northern at the Hilltopper Duals on Sunday. He delivered one of the most decisive bouts of the day, earning a 17–4 major decision over Flint Guerra to secure four critical team points and swing momentum back in the Hilltoppers' favor.

With Ohio Northern attempting to rally after wins at 157 and 165 pounds, Winegardner's dominant performance at 174 halted the surge and helped West Liberty regain control of the dual.

Winegardner's strong showing followed an impressive tournament championship performance on Dec. 5, when he captured the 174-pound title at the Little State Championships in Indiana.
