WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — The West Liberty University wrestling team turned in a strong all-around performance Sunday, earning a 30–15 dual meet victory over Ohio Northern in the Hilltopper Duals behind four bonus-point wins and victories in eight of the 10 weight classes.
The Hilltoppers jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, using a pair of pins in the middle of the lineup to create separation.
West Liberty opened the dual with back-to-back decisions as Caiden Harbert (125) edged Kurt Mokros, 5–3, before Treygen Morin (133) followed with a convincing 10–3 win over Chase Vanderhorst to give the Hilltoppers a 6–0 advantage.
Momentum surged at 141 pounds when nationally ranked Khyvon Grace delivered a decisive pin of Casper Caizzo at the 8:38 mark, pushing the lead to 12–0. The Hilltoppers kept the pressure on at 149, as Anthony Wood secured a fall over Aaron Turner in 4:55 to extend the margin to 18–0.
Ohio Northern answered with wins at 157 and 165, narrowing the gap, but West Liberty regained control at 174 pounds. Carter Winegardner earned a major decision over Flint Guerra, 17–4, adding four critical team points.
Devon Bell followed with a steady 6–1 decision at 184, before Ohio Northern picked up a forfeit at 197. The Hilltoppers closed the night in emphatic fashion at heavyweight, as Parker Bentley powered his way to a 17–2 technical fall over Troy Dyszkiewicz to seal the 30–15 victory.
