West Liberty, W.Va. – West Liberty University junior wrestler Nico Taddy has been named Hilltopper of the Week following a standout performance at the 46th Annual Midwest Classic in Indianapolis.
Competing at 157 pounds, Taddy led the Hilltoppers by placing fourth and scoring 19 team points. He opened the tournament with an 18–0 technical fall over Kevin Boston of CSU Pueblo, followed by a 16–4 major decision against Ashland's Fernando Lopez. Taddy continued his strong showing with a 1–0 decision over Newberry's Matt Hoelke and a 14–3 major decision in the quarterfinals against Seton Hill's Mike Zacur. After a narrow setback in the semifinals, Taddy rebounded with a pin over Vincent Cabral of Western Colorado before concluding the tournament in the third-place match.
Taddy and the Hilltoppers will travel to Lake Erie College on Wednesday for a dual with the Storm before returning home to host the Hilltopper Duals Sunday at the ASRC.
