10/3/2025 10:00:00 AM

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The West Liberty University men's cross country team continues its fall slate this Saturday at the 24th Annual Swags Louisville Cross Country Classic at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park. The Hilltoppers are entered in the Men's College Blue Race, scheduled for 10:15 a.m.

The Black and Gold have strung together a strong start to the 2025 season with back-to-back impressive outings. They opened the year with a runner-up team finish at the West Liberty Invitational, scoring 64 points to place behind only Charleston in the eight-team field. Freshman Joshua Gill made an immediate impact, placing sixth overall in his collegiate debut, while veterans Francis Toohey (10th) and Robert Allen (11th) packed tightly with Jasper Brown (15th) to keep the Hilltoppers among the leaders.

West Liberty followed that up with a dominant showing at the Bethany Invitational, where they rolled to the team title with just 22 points and a 1-2-3 sweep at the front of the pack. Gill again paced the squad, winning the individual crown in 26:37.0. Seniors Brown and Toohey weren't far behind, finishing second and third, while freshmen Finlay Lorimer and Michael Niggemyer also cracked the top 10 to round out the scoring five.
