10/10/2025 4:00:00 PM

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — The West Liberty University men's and women's cross country teams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Clinton, Pa., to compete in the Carnegie Mellon University Invitational at Youthtowne.

The event marks another key test for both Hilltopper squads as they continue their fall schedule against a competitive regional field featuring strong programs from across all NCAA divisions.

Last weekend, the West Liberty men's team turned in a strong showing at the Louisville Cross Country Classic, highlighted by Robert Allen's impressive top-10 finish in the Men's Blue 8K race. Allen clocked a time of 25:19.1 to place ninth overall in one of the largest fields of the season.

Senior Jasper Brown followed with a solid effort, finishing 42nd in 25:55.9, while Zachary Workman (26:42.7), Francis Toohey (27:04.8), and Michael Niggemyer (27:10.4) rounded out the Hilltoppers' top five.

On the women's side, Lacey Dimit once again led the charge for West Liberty at Louisville, covering the 6-kilometer course in 24:11.4 to finish 132nd in a deep field that included numerous NCAA Division I and II programs. Freshman Lexi Wynn followed closely behind at 24:18.2, showing continued progress in her debut season.

Saturday's meet at Youthtowne will give both teams another valuable opportunity to compete on a fast, championship-style course as they continue preparations for the Mountain East Conference Championships later this month.
