West Liberty, W.Va. – The No. 12-ranked West Liberty University men's wrestling team delivered an impressive performance on Sunday, going 2-0 at the Hilltopper Duals inside the ASRC.
In their opening dual, the Hilltoppers claimed a commanding 28-14 victory over Millersville, winning seven of the ten matches. Notable victories came from:
The second dual of the day against Ohio Northern was a nail-biter. After falling behind 16-3, West Liberty mounted a thrilling comeback with four consecutive wins. Alec Cook (165 lbs.), Carter Winegardner (174 lbs.), Ty McGeary (184 lbs.), and McGeary again at 197 lbs. powered the Hilltoppers to a 19-16 lead.
The Polar Bears' Myles Johnson edged Parker Bentley 4-3 in the final match, tying the dual at 19. However, West Liberty secured the win on a tiebreaker, 20-19, completing their sweep.
The Hilltoppers now head into the holiday break and will return to the mat on January 4 at the Fairmont State Invite.
