Topper Men Sweep Season Series With Wheeling

 

West Liberty,W.Va. - The West Liberty University men's soccer team picked up a 3-2 win over Wheeling University Wednesday night to sweep the season series. It marks the first time the Hilltoppers have taken both games in the regular season against the Cardinals. 

West Liberty struck first in the game when Tim Stickland scored his second goal of the season in the 15th minute for a 1-0 lead. The Cards would tie the game 1-1 just 2:04 later and then take the lead 2-1 in the 45th minute. 

In the second half the Hilltoppers would tie the game 2-2 in the 59th minute on Zachary Forehand's fifth goal of the season. 

In the 74th minute Forehand scored his second of the game and sixth goal of the season on a free kick just outside the 18.

With the win the Hilltoppers move into fifth place in the conference and will face Frostburg State Sunday in the Quarterfinals of the Mountain East Conference tournament.
