West Liberty Men’s And Women’s Soccer To Host Charleston In Doubleheader

West Liberty, W.Va. - The West Liberty University men's and women's soccer teams will host the University of Charleston Wednesday at the West Family Athletic Complex. 

The women will open the action at 5 p.m.  The Golden Eagles have won five of the last seven meetings. UC leads the south division at 5-2 overall and 5-0 in the Mountain East Conference.Juliette Lucas leads Charleston and the MEC in goals scored with seven, game winning goals (3) and points (15). Frankie Morrow leads UC and the MEC in assists (4). West Liberty comes into the match coming off of a 2-1 win over Wheeling Sunday. Morgan Kost leads the Hilltoppers and is second in the Mountain East Conference in assists (3) , sixth in goals (3) and fifth in points (9). Mia Zecca is ninth in points (6). Goalkeeper Cianna Butera leads the MEC in saves (42) and saves per game (6.0). 

The men's game will start at 7:30 p.m. UC is in first place in the MEC 7-0-1 overall and 5-0 in conference play. The Golden Eagles lead the MEC in goals scored (17) and they have only allowed four. Joao Belmudes leads the MEC in goals (6), assists (4) and points (16). The Hilltoppers enter the match fresh off of the dominating 5-1 win over Wheeling, where four different players scored. Zachary Forehand leads the Toppers and the MEC in shots(28), shots on goal(12) and is tied for the conference lead in assists with four. The Hilltoppers will be looking for their first win over Charleston since 2017.
