FROSTBURG, Md. - The West Liberty University men's tennis team took down Frostburg State, 5-2, Thursday evening on the road.
After dropping the opening doubles match,
Gianluca Gerndt andÂ
Joao Benvenutti got the Hilltoppers on the board with a 6-2 win out of the #3 spot.
Moritz Erpel and
Nevio Dux battled out a tiebreak win (7-6) to earn the doubles point for the Black and Gold.
The Bobcats came back to win the top-two positions in singles, but four straight wins closed it out for West Liberty from spots three through six. Benvenutti (6-2, 6-1), Gerndt (6-3, 6-0), Esquivel (6-1, 6-2) and Zerpa (6-2, 6-0) all won in straight sets to clinch the victory.
West Liberty (6-2) will be back in action on Tuesday at Cedarville starting a string of three straight non-conference matchups.
