West Liberty, W.Va. – A big weekend is in store for the No. 2 West Liberty University wrestling team as they split the squad up for a pair of events. The first group of wrestlers competing will be in Fort Wayne, Indiana, for the Little State Invite on Saturday. The group of starters will then compete on Sunday in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as they wrestle NCAA Division I foes Clarion and Drexel in the Dragon Duals.

#2 WEST LIBERTY STORYLINES
	- West Liberty enters the weekend with the No. 2 team ranking in the NWCA polls and a 2-0 dual record on the year. The Hilltoppers have posted top-25 dual wins over No. 14 Pitt-Johnstown (20-14) and No. 20 Mercyhurst (24-17). In a pair of open tournaments thus far a trio of wrestlers have won titles, as Mason Christian won the 197 pound championship at the Mount Union Invite while No. 1 Ty McGeary and No. 4 Vincent Scollo took home titles at 184 pounds and 133 pounds at the Findlay Open.
- The Hilltoppers have seen a pair of athletes be named the MEC Wrestler of the Week this season with Nico Taddy winning the award in the opening week, and McGeary was recognized last week following his Findlay Open title.
- Wrestlers to watch for West Liberty on Saturday will be Landon Hoffman (3-2) at 133 pounds, Chris Barthelemy (5-4) at 141 pounds, Brett Goff (6-4) at 165 pounds, and Christian Chavez (6-4) at 174 pounds. Chavez turned in a fourth place finish in WLU's last outing at the Findlay Open and a seventh place finish at the Mount Union Invite. Hoffman (4th), Barthelemy (5th), and Goff (4th) all recorded top-5 finishes at the Mount Union Invite.
- A total of four athlete will be competing unattached for the Hilltoppers at the Little State Invite as Matt Englehardt (0-4) will compete at 133 pounds, Carter Winegardner (4-2) will compete at 157 pounds, Oliver Byerly (5-3) will compete at 174 pounds, and Parker Bentley (4-3) will compete at 285 pounds. Winegardner, who also competed unattached at the Findlay Open, recorded an eighth place finish overall in the event.
- A trio of nationally ranked NWCA wrestlers will be in action on Sunday for WLU, as No. 1 McGeary (7-0) and No. 4 Scollo (7-0) put their undefeated records on the line against NCAA Division I competition. Cook checks in at No. 3 at 165 pounds with a record of 5-3 on the year.
- Only one of West Liberty's two regionally ranked wrestlers will also compete on Sunday as Khyvon Grace (5-3) will compete as the No. 3 regional wrestler at 141 pounds.
- Danny Irwin enters his fifth season as the head coach at West Liberty, leading the Hilltoppers to a 47-15 dual meet record and three consecutive top-6 finishes at the NCAA Division II National Championships. Overall, Irwin enters his seventh season as a head coach after spending his first two seasons at Wheeling and has compiled a 67-24 career dual meet record and four total top-6 national championship finishes.
