HOW IT HAPPENED
- West Liberty started the game fast with a pair of shots-on-goal and a corner kick in the first three minutes of playing time, however those would be the only two shot attempts on target for WLU in the match.
- The first shot-on-goal for the Black & Gold occurred in the second minute as Linus Ebert led the attack from midfield before firing a shot from just outside the 18 yard box towards the lower left corner of the net, forcing Joel Assal to make a diving save to deflect the ball out of play for a WLU corner kick.
- After receiving a pass from Vitor Otsuka, Joseph Fonagy placed the second shot of the game on target for West Liberty in the third minute. Firing a shot that rolled towards the middle of the net and was jumped on by Assal for FSU.
- Noah Underwood made one save in each half for the Hilltoppers. In the 43rd minute he made a diving save to deflect a shot towards the lower left corner, knocking the ball away for the lone corner kick of the game for the Bobcats. Later in the match in the 61st minute he made a grab on a shot that was headed towards the net from the right side of the 6 yard box.
- Underwood notched his fourth shutout of the year, matching the West Liberty single-season record which he also tied in the fall of 2021.
- West Liberty held the advantage in corner kicks (8-1) and saves (3-2), while Frostburg State held the edge in shots (12-8) and shots-on-goal (3-2).
