WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. - The 7th ranked West Liberty University wrestling team dominated visiting Findlay University, 33-10, today inside the ASRC in its first home match in over a month.

"It was good to be in front of the home fans again and I'm happy with the way our guys competed from start to finish after a great week of training," said Head Coach Danny Irwin.

The Hilltoppers earned points in each of the first five bouts to get out in front early and never looked back extending their win streak to 12 straight in duals.

Back-to-back nationally ranked Hilltoppers got the day started with decisions. Top ranked Cole Laya picked up a 5-0 decision at 125. After a scoreless first period, Laya got a reversal in the second and added three points in the third to seal the deal. Then, #3 Vincent Scollo earned a 5-2 win at 133. Scollo secured a takedown in the first period, then broke a 2-2 tie with a second-period reversal and capped it off with an escape in the third.

Jacob Simpson trailed early at 149, but a takedown in the final seconds of the second frame put him in front and then a reversal in the third clinched the 6-2 victory.

The headliner match of the day came at 157 between #8 Jamar Williams and #11 Logan Sanom. It was scoreless after two periods, then Williams struck for six points on a takedown and a near fall. "I knew I had to get on top and when I did I knew I was going to score some points," said Williams post dual. Sanom suffered an injury midway through the third and defaulted.

Alec Cook battled his way to a 5-4 victory at 174, after the Oilers got on the board for the first time at 165. Cook got ahead 4-1 in the second period, but an escape and reversal by his opposition tied things up in the third. Seconds later Cook got the escape and held on for the win.

Third ranked Ty McGeary continued his dominance to start the season improving to 12-0 off a 16-1 tech fall win, his first of the year.

Francesco Borsellino finished the day with a 9-0 major decision in the 285 pound bout. The 8th ranked Borsellino jumped out in front 6-0 in the first period and never let up.

Findlay forfeited the 141 match to Khyvon Grace.

The Hilltoppers will be back in action on Friday, when they host the Hilltopper Duals. The event is set to begin at 10 am inside the ASRC.
