STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – The West Liberty University women's tennis team got its fall season off to a flying start this weekend by turning in a dominant performance at The Baron Challenge, hosted by NCAA Division III Franciscan University at the Belleview Courts.
    Coach Heather Gallagher's  10-woman squad went undefeated in singles play, sweeping all 30 matches in the two-day event, and posted a sizzling 14-1 mark in doubles action.
    Returning All-MEC standout Gemma Cliffe and Jacqueline Pena-Aceves were nearly perfect in singles play. Each player notched a pair of 6-0 6-0 sweeps in singles action while losing just one game in their other victory. Newcomer Elysia Beynon also had an easy time of it in singles, losing a total of just two games in her three matches.
    The West Liberty women will be back in action on Friday when they head west to compete in the Oberlin (Ohio) Invitational.
