BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – After leading the regionally-ranked West Liberty University cross country team to victory in Saturday's Bethany Invitational, the Hilltoppers'
Michael Harriman has been honored as the Male Cross Country Runner of the Week.
A senior All-Region standout from Wheeling, W.Va., Harriman led a stampede of Hilltoppers to the tape at Saturday's season-opening event.
He hit the tape in the 8,000-meter event in a brisk time of 26:25 – nearly 20 seconds ahead of his closest pursuer – and was one of four WLU runners in the top 10. West Liberty won the team title with 42 points, easily outdistancing runner-up Davis & Elkins (55) in the 12-team event.
Harriman and his WLU teammates will be back in action on Sept. 25 when they compete against a loaded field in the Lock Haven (Pa.) Invitational.
