WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – West Liberty University student-athletes, coaches and administrators will be standing strong with hundreds of colleges and universities across the nation this week in support of the fourth annual NCAA Diversity and Inclusion Social Media Campaign.
Leaning on the expert guidance and leadership of WLU associate head women's basketball coach
Cassie Seth – the university's Athletics Diversity & Inclusion Designee (ADID) – the Hilltopper athletic department will highlight the widespread diversity and experiences of our 500-plus student-athletes and coaches by sharing some of their inspiring stories across all of our social media platforms.
"We are thrilled to celebrate the leadership role of our amazing student-athletes in embracing and promoting diversity and inclusion on our campus through this very important initiative," Seth said. "We hope this week's NCAA Diversity and Inclusion campaign will provide not just information but inspiration for the entire campus community going forward. We are all Hilltoppers!"
The three-day campaign – "We Are All Hilltoppers!" – runs from Tuesday through Thursday with each day featuring a specific theme addressing specific aspects of these important social issues via targeted digital media content.
Tuesday's theme is
"My Voice, My Platform," which explores the identities, perspectives and life experiences of several student-athletes and coaches.
Wednesday's theme is
"I've Got Your Back," focuses on action items available to individual student-athletes and the institution in their shared pursuit of inclusive excellence.
The program concludes Thursday with
"Belonging is…" Student-athletes and administrators discuss what "belonging" looks and feels like to them and outline some of the actions they've taken to ensure others are seen, heard and valued within their team and social circle.
The WLU athletic department invites all members of TopperNation to join the discussion on our social media platforms: Twitter (@wlathletics), Instagram (@wlu_athletics) and Facebook (WLathletics – West Liberty University Athletics).
