PHILIPPI, W.Va. – The No. 6-ranked West Liberty University wrestling hits the road today for its long-awaited season opener in a Mountain East Conference triangular against host Alderson-Broaddus and Glenville State.
Action gets under way at noon on the floor of Rex Pyles Arena.

Danny Irwin's nationally-ranked Hilltoppers were installed as preseason favorites in the MEC coaches' preseason poll with a stellar lineup featuring a trio of multi-year NCAA Division II All-Americans – including a pair of former national champions.
The host Battlers, who were picked fifth in the MEC coaches' poll, are led by 2-time NCAA national qualifier Gino Sita at 184 pounds while Glenville State is making its NCAA Division II mat debut.

Following Saturday's matches, the WLU mat squad will be back in action on Jan. 16 with a triangular at Fairmont State.
