WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's soccer team couldn't hold off a second-half comeback by Ursuline here Tuesday as the visiting Arrows came from behind to steal a 2-1 win in non-conference action at the West Family Athletic Complex.
    Coach Barry Christmas's Hilltoppers (0-2) controlled the run of play for long stretches in the first half and their hard work was rewarded in the 29^th minute when Sonata Beasley collected a loose ball just outside the six and slipped it into the net for a 1-0 West Liberty lead.
    The hosts carried that advantage into the second half but caught a tough break shortly after play resumed when a foul in the box resulted in Ursuline (1-1) being awarded a penalty kick. Sarah Mitchell converted the equalizer in the 48^th minute and the visitors seemed to draw energy from the score.
    The Arrows continued to maintain steady pressure on the WLU net, forcing several corner kicks and keeping Hilltopper netminder Olivia Montgomery constantly on the move.
    Montgomery was able to turn aside a handful of quality scoring chances but the visitors finally broke through with Mitchell driving one home off a scrum just outside the six for a 2-1 Ursuline lead.
    Arrows netminder Gina Cerny was seldom tested in the final 45 minutes but came up big in the waning seconds with a save off a shot by West Liberty's Layne Hartnell to preserve the win.
    Ursuline finished the match with a 15-9 advantage in shots and forced 7 corners to 2 for the Black and Gold. Cerny was credited with 5 total saves to earn the win while Montgomery posted a career-high 9 saves in a losing cause for the hosts.
    The Lady Hilltoppers will try to break into the win column on Friday when they wrap up their non-conference slate under the lights at West Family Athletic Complex in a 7 p.m. kickoff against Malone.
