    MANHEIM, Pa. – The West Liberty University wrestling team cracked the Top 20 and two WLU mat standouts were repeat honorees when the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) released its annual NCAA Division II All-Academic Team.
    The Black and Gold checked in at No. 19 in the nation with a team GPA of 3.0606 while senior Josh Cornell and sophomore Jacob Ramsey were named to the 2018-19 NWCA All-Academic Team. It's the third consecutive honor for Cornell while Ramsey has earned a spot in each of his first two seasons.
    In order for a student-athlete to be nominated to the Division II All-Academic Team, he must have a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
    That benchmark is lowered to 3.25 for those who qualified for the 2019 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships and 3.00 for those who earned All-American status for the 2019 season. The student-athlete must also have competed in a minimum of six dates of competition.
    Cornell is a senior 157-pounder from Chester, W.Va. by way of Oak Glen High School. The 3-time NWCA All-Academic selection has maintained a 3.50 cumulative GPA at West Liberty as a Health & Physical Education major.
    Ramsey is a sophomore 165-pounder from Center Township, Pa. by way of Central Valley High School. The repeat NWCA All-Academic honoree carries an impressive 3.65 GPA as an Accounting major.
    Maryville (Mo.) University earned its second straight national academic championship with a 3.5558 team GPA. West Liberty is one of 13 NCAA Division II schools with at least one national academic championship to their credit.
