WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The No. 2-seeded West Liberty University women's soccer team will host No. 3 seed Fairmont State in a Mountain East Conference Tournament first-round match here Tuesday.
Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. at the West Liberty Soccer Complex.
Coach Barry's Christmas's Hilltoppers capped their late-season surge with a thrilling come-from-behind 3-2 victory at Ohio County rival Wheeling Jesuit on Saturday night to lock up home field advantage for Tuesday's tournament tilt.
With only one loss in the last six regular-season matches, West Liberty brings plenty of momentum into the tournament. Saturday's win against WJU pulled the Hilltoppers into a tie with Fairmont State for second place in the MEC North Division. The Black and Gold won the tiebreaker by going 1-0-1 against the Falcons during the regular season.
Coach Christmas took a few minutes to talk to hilltoppersports.com about Tuesday's match-up.
