Box Score WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – Shepherd's Taylor Harwood scored two second-half goals in a 3-minute span to hand the West Liberty University women's soccer team a 2-0 setback here Wednesday in Mountain East Conference action at the West Liberty Soccer Complex.

Barry Christmas's host Hilltoppers (2-4-1, 1-4-1) controlled the run of play for most of the first half but came away with nothing to show for it thanks to a sterling performance by Ram goalkeeper Christi LaBella.
West Liberty outshot the visitors by a 6-2 margin during the first 45 minutes and got four of the six shots on frame only to see LaBella turn aside each one of them to keep the game scoreless into intermission.
Shepherd (2-2-2, 2-1-2) broke the scoring ice less than 10 minutes into the second half when Harwood finished off an assist from Katherine Eddy inside the box during the 57
th minute for a 1-0 Ram lead. The scoreboard had barely had time to register the change when Harwood scored again, this time on an assist from Brogan Pifer, to make it 2-0 in the 60
th minute.
The Hilltoppers had a couple of good scoring chances over the final 30 minutes but LaBella came up big again with saves on shots by
Thanna Oddo and
Emily Evans to preserve the win.
West Liberty finished with an 11-9 edge in shots – including a 7-4 edge in shots on goal – but LaBella saved all 7 shots to earn the shutout. Hilltopper keeper
Lauren Hartnell was charted with 2 saves.
The West Liberty women head north on Sunday for a 3 p.m. match against Notre Dame in South Euclid, Ohio.
