Box Score

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's soccer team dropped a heartbreaking 2-1 extra-time decision to Fairmont State here Sunday afternoon at the West Liberty Soccer Complex.
Kellie Norris's "golden goal" in the 99th minute snapped a 1-1 deadlock and gave the Falcons (4-4-4, 3-4-4) their second extra-time win of the season over Coach Barry Christmas's Hilltoppers (4-6-2, 3-6-2).
West Liberty had taken a 1-0 lead into intermission after Caitlin de Vries nodded home a header in the 25th minute off assists from Jordan Smith and Michelle Bourkab but the hosts were unable to find the net again.
Fairmont came up with the equalizer off a set piece in the 60th minute. Lake Porter took a corner kick from Cameryn Ciresi and sent it past Hilltopper keeper Allie Warsaw to knot the score at 1-1.
That was the score at the end of regulation and the game went into extra time, setting the stage for Norris's game-winner.
Fairmont State finished with a slim 11-10 advantage in shots while Warsaw was charted with 4 saves against 2 saves by Falcon netminder Shawna Graham.
The West Liberty women face another big challenge on Wednesday when they host nationally-ranked West Virginia Wesleyan. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at the West Liberty Soccer Complex.
