Box Score

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – West Liberty's Nikki Lolua broke up a scoreless tie with a second-half goal here Tuesday and the WLU women's soccer team beat Charleston, 1-0, in Mountain East Conference action at the Trace Fork Soccer Complex.
Lolua, a sophomore midfielder from Hamilton, Ont., finished off an assist from senior standout Thanna Oddo in the 58th minute to put Coach Barry Christmas's Hilltoppers (3-5-2, 2-5-2) and the Black and Gold defense took care of the rest.
The host Golden Eagles (3-4-4, 2-3-4) outshot West Liberty by a narrow 10-8 margin in what was largely a defensive struggle but couldn't break through the Hilltopper back line as keeper Lauren Hartnell posted her second straight clean sheet.
Hartnell, a junior from Nashport, Ohio, was credited with four saves on the day. Charleston keeper Zoe Zyta saved two shots in the loss.
West Liberty has a much shorter road trip in store on Friday when the Hilltoppers make the short trek down Route 88 to take on Ohio County rival Wheeling Jesuit. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m.
