UC Shuts Out West Liberty Soccer

Box Score CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The University of Charleston's women's soccer team broke up a close match with three second-half goals here Friday afternoon to hand West Liberty a 4-0 loss in Mountain East Conference action at the Trace Fork Soccer Complex.
Coach Barry Christmas' Hilltoppers (0-3, 0-1) found themselves on the short end of a 1-0 count at intermission after the Golden Eagles' Rachel Neff broke the scoring ice in the 32nd minute with a shot that caromed into the net off the inside of the far post.
West Liberty was able to hold UC (2-1, 2-0) at bay when play resumed until midway through the second half when Ivey Nucilli scored back-to-back goals in a 10-minute span to put the match out of reach. Neff closed out the scoring in the 90th minute with her second goal of the match.
Hilltopper netminder Lauren Hartnell was charted with 8 saves as Charleston finished with a 21-3 edge in shots and 10 corner kicks to none for WLU. Zoe Zyta had two saves to post the shutout for UC.
The West Liberty women return home to host Urbana in a noon match on Sunday.
