Lady Hilltoppers Fall at Ashland

ASHLAND, Ohio – The West Liberty University soccer team couldn't get anything going here Tuesday afternoon as a high-powered Ashland squad pulled away to a 4-0 win at Ferguson Field.
Coach Barry Christmas' Hilltoppers (0-2-0) weathered the storm for the better part of the first half only to see the Eagles (2-0-1) break through with a Juliana Markovic goal in the 27th minute.
The hosts added a Brittany Ehlert goal in the 37th minute to take a 2-0 lead into intermission and tacked on two more scores in the second half to wrap up the win.
Ashland controlled the run of play for most of the afternoon, outshooting West Liberty by a 27-3 margin. Hilltopper keeper Allie Warsaw was charted with 11 saves in a losing cause.
The Black and Gold kick off their Mountain East Conference schedule on Friday with a 5 p.m. match at the University of Charleston.
