Box Score SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio - The West Liberty University women's soccer team battled Notre Dame (Ohio) to a scoreless draw in Mountain East Conference action here Thursday afternoon.
Coach
Barry Christmas' Hilltoppers (1-3-1, 1-1-1) came achingly close to stealing a win in the early moments of the match as
Briella Taylor beat Falcon netminder Sam Shoemaker only to see her shot hit the post and bounce away.
That turned out to be the best scoring chance for either side in a goalkeepers' duel between Shoemaker and West Liberty's
Allie Warsaw. The Falcons (2-0-2, 1-0-2) had a 23-10 advantage in total shots but managed to put only 10 of them on frame with Warsaw posting 10 saves to earn the shutout.
Shoemaker finished with 8 saves for the hosts, who were ranked No. 2 in the MEC coaches' preseason poll.
The West Liberty women return home to host Shepherd on Sunday. Kickoff is set for noon at the West Liberty Soccer Complex.
