Another Thrilling Win for West Liberty Soccer

Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Thanna Oddo's goal in the 89th minute here Tuesday afternoon snapped a scoreless tie and lifted the West Liberty University women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory against Shepherd on the Rams' home pitch.
Coach Barry Christmas' Hilltoppers (5-3-3, 5-1-3) had just turned aside a Shepherd flurry in the 87th minute as the Rams (4-5-1, 3-5-1) had back-to-back shots blocked by the WLU back line in a 10-second span. The second rebound went to the foot of the Rams' Taylor Harwood who launched a drive on frame only to see Hilltopper keeper Allie Warsaw come up with the save.
West Liberty's counter-attack bore fruit just over a minute later when midfielder Nikki Lolua got the ball to Oddo and the junior striker beat Shepherd netminder Christi LaBella for the game-winner.
The thrilling victory extended the Hilltoppers' school-record unbeaten streak to eight games. West Liberty was outshot by a 15-7 margin but Warsaw was charted with 7 saves to earn the shutout - WLU's sixth clean sheet of the season.
The Hilltoppers return home to host Notre Dame (Ohio) on Friday. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at the West Liberty Soccer Complex.
