Box Score WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University soccer team notched its first win of the season here Sundayafternoon, blanking Ohio County rival Wheeling Jesuit by a 1-0 count at the West Liberty Soccer Complex.
Kylie Woyat scored the game's only goal for Coach Barry Christmas' Hilltoppers (1-4-2, 1-3-2) in the 71st minute when she won a struggle for possession inside the box and nudged the ball into the bottom left corner of the net. West Liberty had an 18-15 edge in shots but the Cardinals (2-5-1, 2-3-1) were able to stay in the match thanks to a strong effort from keeper Holly Kraus, who was charted with 11 saves on the afternoon.
The Hilltoppers also got an outstanding performance from their own netminder as Allie Warsaw made 6 saves to earn the shutout win. The West Liberty women return to action on Wednesday with a 2 p.m. match at Concord.
