Box Score WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's soccer team exploded for three goals in the final 15 minutes here Sunday, pulling away to a 4-1 victory against Urbana in Mountain East Conference action at the West Liberty Soccer Complex.
Coach Barry Christmas' Hilltoppers (3-5-3, 3-4-3) appeared to be locked into a defensive struggle with the visiting Blue Knights (4-8-0, 3-7-0) after a scoreless opening half. West Liberty finally broke the scoring ice when Briella Taylor nodded a header from Thanna Oddo into the net in the 66th minute for a 1-0 Hilltopper lead. The match opened up from that point with Chanelle Bondurant delivering the equalizer for Urbana in the 77th minute, redirecting a cross from Hannah Rembach.
West Liberty's Erica White put the hosts ahead to stay off an assist from Kylie Woyat in the 78th minute. White pushed the margin out to 3-1 in the 83rd minute when she ripped a laser just under the crossbar in the right corner of the net from the top of the 18. Reigning MEC Defensive Player of the Week Allie Warsaw earned the win in net with 5 saves for the Hilltoppers, who outshot the Blue Knights by a 14-8 margin. The West Liberty women travel to Greensburg, Pa. on Wednesday for a 3 p.m. non-conference match against Seton Hill.
