Box Score PEPPER PIKE, Ohio – The West Liberty University women's soccer team ran into a strong keeper here Tuesday afternoon and dropped a 3-0 decision to host Ursuline University.
Coach Barry Christmas' Hilltoppers (0-1-1) peppered the Arrows' cage with 8 shots in the first half alone but couldn't put anything past Ursuline (2-1-0) keeper Helen Jazzar. West Liberty just missed grabbing a 1-0 lead in the 30th minute when Veronica Rothka's drive clanged off the crossbar but it was all Ursuline the rest of the way. Taylor Dackin finished off an assist from Vanessa Consiglio in the 36th minute to stake the Arrows to a 1-0 halftime lead.
Ursuline turned up the defensive heat in the second half, holding the Hilltoppers to just one shot over the final 45 minutes while tacking on a pair of insurance goals.
West Liberty kicks off Mountain East Conference play on Saturday with a noon match at Urbana.
