Box Score WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – Thanna Oddo banged home a pair of goals and the West Liberty University women's soccer team dominated from start to finish here Friday afternoon in rolling to a 2-0 victory against Urbana at the West Liberty Soccer Complex. The convincing win brought Coach Barry Christmas' Hilltoppers (3-4-3, 3-3-2) back to the .500 mark in Mountain East Conference play while dropping the Blue Knights to 2-6-3 overall and 1-5-3 in the league. Oddo's first goal came in the 11th minute when buried a left-footed strike into the left corner of the net from the top of the 18.
West Liberty nursed that 1-0 lead into halftime and Oddo added an insurance tally in the 55th minute when she knifed into the box and knocked one into the right corner from a dozen yards out.
Urbana keeper Taylor Gianangeli was under a steady bombardment throughout the match as the Hilltoppers outshot the visitors by a whopping 18-2 margin. Gianangeli was charted with 12 saves to keep things from getting completely out of hand.
West Liberty keeper Allie Warsaw picked up a shutout win without being called on to make a single save as one of the Blue Knights' shots missed the net completely while the other was blocked by a WLU defender. The Hilltoppers will be idle this weekend but return to action on Wednesday when they host Concord in a 3 p.m. match at the West Liberty Soccer Complex.
