Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – The Shepherd women's soccer team scored a late first-half goal and West Liberty couldn't come up with the equalizer here Wednesday afternoon as the host Rams held on for a 1-0 win.
Kylie Duffin scored what proved to be the game-winner for Shepherd (4-5-1, 2-4-0) in the 44th minute of the first half when she finished off an assist from Kelsey Smith, sending the teams off the pitch at intermission with the Rams holding a 1-0 lead.
Coach Barry Christmas' Hilltoppers (2-4-2, 2-3-1) just missed knotting the count late in regulation when Allie Roberts beat Shepherd keeper Anna Mueller with a drive only to see the ball slam into the post and bounce harmlessly away to preserve the shutout. Shepherd held an 11-8 advantage in shots with Mueller and WLU keeper Allie Warsaw each picking up a pair of saves in net. WOMEN'S SOCCER
