Box Score
WEST LIBERTY, W.Va.  – The West Liberty University women's soccer team wasted little time turning the debut of their spanking new West Liberty Soccer Complex into an all-out celebrationSaturday afternoon with a 3-0 blowout of Chowan (N.C.).
A large crowd turned out for the first home game in Lady Hilltopper history and Coach Barry Christmas's squad didn't disappoint, putting two quick goals on the electronic scoreboard in a three-minute span of the opening half and adding another tally midway through the second period in a dominating performance.
Kaylynn Petrisin broke the scoring ice at the West Liberty Soccer Complex in the 15th minute when she cashed in a feed from Sarah Evans and Courtney Webb quickly pushed the count to 2-0 with a breakaway goal in the 18th minute.
Webb wrapped up the scoring with another breakaway in the 66th minute.
The Hilltoppers kept play in the visitors' end for much of the game, peppering the Chowan goal virtually at will while building a whopping 34-5 edge in shots.
West Liberty also forced 8 corner kicks to just 3 for the North Carolina squad.
Hilltopper keeper Rachel Coles needed to make only one save to record the shutout. Chowan keeper Monica Hayward kept things from getting completely out of hand with 15 saves.
West Liberty will be back on its new home field on Tuesday afternoon for a 5:30 p.m. game against Ursuline (Ohio).
