Butler helped lead the Hilltoppers to back-to-back MEC Tournament titles with a double-double in all three tournament games. He was named MVP of the tournament with an average 20.6 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 4.3 assists over a dominating three days for the Black and Gold. Butler secured a career-high 16 rebounds in the semifinal win over Notre Dame and netted a game-high 22 points with 12 rebounds in the championship.
