Scott Schenerlein was a force to be reckoned with on the wrestling mat and the football field for West Liberty during the mid-1980s.
A 4-time NAIA national qualifier in wrestling, Schenerlein won three NAIA District titles and was a 2-time national runner-up at 177 pounds. He still ranks among the school's career leaders in near falls, technical falls and team points scored.
The Parkersburg, W.Va. native was an impact performer on the gridiron, as well, in his role as a hard-nosed fullback for the Hilltopper football team. An outstanding blocker and powerful inside runner, Schenerlein earned All-WVIAC football honors following the 1985 season.
After graduating from West Liberty, Schenerlein returned to the Parkersburg area to begin a career in pharmaceutical sales while remaining active as a volunteer coach.
