    Paul Blair earned back-to-back All-WVIAC and NAIA All-America honors in the pool at West Liberty in 1971 and 1972 before going on to establish himself as one of the premier swimming coaches in the nation.
    As head coach of the Little Rock (Ark.) Dolphins, the 1974 West Liberty graduate won the 1988 men's U.S. Open title and followed that up by taking the 1989 men's National Championship. Renowned world-wide for his sprint training techniques, Blair was an eight-time USA National Team coach who trained 35 national age group champions, 6 U.S. National champions, 12 U.S. Junior National champions, 9 Masters National champions, 25 Olympic Trials qualifiers, 6 Olympic qualifiers and an Olympic gold medalist.
    A past Vice President of the American Swim Coaches Association, Blair is a member of the American Swimming Coaches Hall of Fame, the Arkansas Swimming Hall of Fame and a recipient of the International Swimming Hall of Fame's Yutaka Terao Award.
