One of the most electrifying running backs in West Liberty history, Kevon Calhoun powered his way into the national spotlight on numerous occasions during his three years on the hilltop. The two-time NCAA Division 2 All-Region selection holds WLU's career and single-season records in TDs, rushing TDs and scoring along with single-game records for TDs and rushing TDs. He finished with 12 100-yard rushing games, two 200-yard rushing games and two 100-yard receiving games.
Calhoun ran for a WLU single-season record 1,529 yards and 22 TDs during the Hilltoppers’ run to the 2009 WVIAC title and first-ever NCAA playoff berth. The speedy tailback rose to the occasion, rushing for 173 yards and 4 TDs while adding two more scores on 116 receiving yards in a wild 84-63 win. The six touchdowns were a school record. Calhoun not only chalked up another 1,000-yard rushing season in 2010, he led the nation in scoring (13.5 ppg.) despite missing two games due to injury.
Calhoun graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management, specializing in Sport Management. A skilled para-educator in the primary/secondary education field, he had been working as a Life Skills Specialist with the National Center for Children in Bethesda, Md. for several years at the time of his induction.
