Standout wide receiver Jim Borst was a key performer on the fine football squads coached by Bob Roe from 1967-1970. In his final three seasons, the squad compiled a 19-6-1 record capped by an unbeaten regular season in 1970.
The Alexandria, Pa. native enjoyed a banner season in 1970, leading the Hilltoppers in receptions, yardage, touchdown catches and a WVIAC-best 60 points scored. He was a first-team All-WVIAC selection and runner-up for the conference’s Offensive Player of the Year Award. His career ended with the ‘Toppers tough 12-6 loss to Wofford in the NAIA National playoffs.
Following his graduation, he served as an educator and coach for several years until entering the insurance business, ultimately becoming the owner of his own agency.
