Henry C. "Hen" Healy was a four-year football and basketball letterman at West Liberty from 1946-51 before going on to a highly-successful teaching and coaching career in the Ohio Valley.
Healy was a two-way standout at defensive back and fullback for Coach Joe Bartell's great football teams of the late 1940s and was an aggressive forward on Hilltopper basketball teams of the era. He began his high school coaching career at Bellaire (Ohio) St. John Central, leading the Irish to an OVAC championship in 1956 and earning OVAC Coach of the Year honors in 1957, before moving on to Paden City (W.Va.) High School.
The former Hilltopper continued to work his gridiron coaching magic with the Wildcats. Before hanging up his football whistle for good, he had compiled an overall coaching mark of 117-52-3 at the two schools while adding two more OVAC championships (1959, 1966) and another OVAC Coach of the Year honor (1967) to his resume. Healy also led Paden City to the 1960 West Virginia Class A state basketball championship with a 23-4 record.
